The Sword of Flame

A young boy of 13 named Codman was

working in the fields when his life changed.  He

heard cheers!  He saw ribbons and the flags of

the emperor.  He also sees soldiers heading his

way.  The soldiers see him and start talking.

"Look, a chosen one," says one of the

soldiers.

"Let us finish breaking the news and bring

back that chosen one,"  says another soldier.

The soldiers start coming Codman's way.  

"Who are you?" Codman asks when they get

near.

"We are soldiers of the emperor," one says.

"We do not wish to harm you," says

another.

"Is your name Codman?" one asks.

"Yes, my name is Codman.  What are you

doing  to my village?" he asks.

"We have done nothing to your village.  We

have only told them that they get 1000  gold for

anyone that looks like the chosen one," says

one.

"Chosen one?  For what?" asks Codman.

"For the Sword of the Flames," says

another.

Codman thought that the Sword of the

Flames was just a childrens story.  If it was true,

then he would be a chosen one.  He was tall and

he had red hair and eyes.  There were rumors

that the emperor had found the Sword of the

Flames and was looking for the chosen one.  

"Do you want me to come with you?"

Codman asks.

"Yes!" they all say simultaneously.

So, they went on the 3 day trip to the

emperor's castle.  When they got to the castle,

there was a big line of boys identical to him.

"You must pull the sword out of the stone to

meet the emperor," said a soldier.

As he waited for his turn, he watched the

other boys try to pull the sword out of the stone.  

The other boys tried with all of their might to

pull the stone out of the stone, but the sword

would not even budge.  

Also, while he waited he met a boy, his

name was Justin.  He said that if you do not pull

the sword out of the stone you would have to go

to the dungeons for a month and then you would

be put in the army to become a warrior.

"Next," said a soldier.

"Wish me luck Codman," said Justin.  Justin

ran up to the pedestal and tried to pull the sword

out of the stone, but he couldn't pull it out of the

stone.  A soldier came up and dragged Justin to

the dungeons.

"Next," said a soldier.

Codman ran up to the pedestal and tried to

pull the sword from the stone.  Astonishingly,

the sword slid out without any trouble at all.  

The royal guard then took Codman to the

emperor.

The emperor was a short, plump man with

blond hair.  There was a magi with him and

would be Codman's teacher.  Codman went to

his  new room and started hurling fireballs out

his window like instructed by Flamestrike, his

teacher.

A few weeks later, Codman was rudely

awakened by a servant and told there was

a battle outside and the emperor needed him.  

Codman went outside and made a cage of

fire around the rebels.  The emperor thanked

him for his help.

"You must now go to the capitol of the

rebels and bring the rebels back.  Use your

powers as the chosen one and make the rebels

surrender," said Flamestrike.

"Can I bring somebody with me?" asked

Codman.

"Yes, but only one person," said

Flamestrike.

A few days later, Codman went to the fields

to find Justin.  When he found Justin, he

asked,"Justin will you come with me to

Vernaat?"

"Why do you want to go to Vernaat?" asked

Justin.

"Because I need to capture the capitol of the

rebels, and Flamestrike, my teacher, said that

that was the capitol of the rebels," explained

Codman, "Now, I ask again, will you come with

me to Vernaat?"

"I shall come with you," said Justin.

Vernaat was a putrid place with smelly fish

and rotting eggs everywhere.  Codman

summoned the power of the sword and sent 5

monsters of flame and a cage of fire to keep

everyone inside the city.  Then, Codman sent

Justin to ask the people to surrender.  When they

did comply, everybody was watched closely and

taken to the castle for torture and imprisonment.  

The emperor said, "That was a mighty fine show

you put on.  In 3 weeks I will be attacking a

rebel stronghold, and I want your help."

In 3 weeks they attacked the last enemy

stronghold and would have won if the

rebels didn't have the sword of water.  The

rebels drowned Codman just after Codman

destroyed their army with an attack so powerful

that it put Codman in a coma.

The emperor won the battle after Justin

struck down the person with the sword of water.  

Codman was brought back to life by Flamestrike

and the empire lived in peace at least until the

Huns came.
